【摘要】:Thedeterminationofengineoilvolatilityat371x00B0;C(700x00B0;F)isarequirementinsomelubricantspecifications.ThistestmethodisintendedasanalternativetoTestMethodsD5800andD5480andtheNoackmethodforthedeterminationofengineoilvolatility(seeDIN51.581).ThedataobtainedfromthistestmethodarenotdirectlyequivalenttoTestMethodD5800.Thecalculatedresultsoftheoilvolatilityestimationbythistestmethodcanbebiasedbythepresenceofadditives(polymericmaterials),whichmaynotcompletelyelutefromthegaschromatographiccolumn,orbyheavierbaseoilsnotcompletelyelutingfromthecolumn.Theresultsofthistestmethodmayalsonotcorrelatewithotheroilvolatilitymethodsfornonhydrocarbonsyntheticoils.Thistestmethodcanbeusedonlubricantproductsnotwithinthescopeofothertestmethodsusingsimulateddistillationmethodologies,suchasTestMethodD2887.1.1Thistestmethodcoversanestimationoftheamountofengineoilvolatilizedat371176;C(700176;F).1.1.1Thistestmethodcanalsobeusedtoestimatetheamountofoilvolatilizedatanytemperaturebetween126and371176;C,ifsodesired.1.2Thistestmethodislimitedtosampleshavinganinitialboilingpoint(IBP)greaterthan126176;C(259176;F)orthefirstcalibrationpointandtosamplescontaininglubricantbaseoilswithendpointslessthan615176;C(1139176;F)orthelastn-paraffinsinthecalibrationmixture.Byusingsomeinstrumentsandcolumns,itispossibletoextendtheusefulrangeofthetestmethod.1.3Thistestmethodusestheprinciplesofsimulateddistillationmethodology.1.4Thistestmethodmaybeappliedtobothlubricantoilbasestocksandfinishedlubricantscontainingadditivepackages.Theseadditivepackagesgenerallycontainhighmolecularweight,non-volatilecomponentsthatdonotelutefromthechromatographiccolumnunderthetestconditions.Thecalculationprocedureusedinthistestmethodassumesthatallofthesampleelutesfromthecolumnandisdetectedwithuniformresponse.Thisassumptionisnottrueforsampleswithnonvolatileadditives,andtheresultsmightbebiasedhighrelativetoTestMethodD5480,whichusesaninternalstandardtoaccountfortheunelutedmaterial.Forthisreason,resultsbythistestmethodarereportedasareapercentofoil.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsareprovidedforinformationonly.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
